3. Downtown Milwaukee Adventure

Spend a few extra days in the city and head to the popular Milwaukee Zoo, Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, Historic Third Ward, and Harley-Davidson Museum.

4. Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Venture

Another popular local getaway location is in Bayfield, Wisconsin, where you can visit the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. This truly magical spot is known for its spectacular 12-mile lakeshore lined with layers of rock, sea caves, and an abundance of wildlife. Hike, kayak, or sail alongside historic lighthouses, shipwrecks, and beautiful underwater formations seen through crystal clear waters.

5. Mississippi River Houseboat

If you’re an up nort’, summer boating kind of family, a long weekend on a houseboat along the Mississippi River might be right up your alley. Businesses like Fun ‘N the Sun in Alma, Wisconsin, know that not all families have experienced houseboat drivers on board, so they take time to train a captain until you’re comfortable. Live, sleep, eat, and play on a large family-sized houseboat and enjoy cruising along the river during the day, while having all the housing amenities on board at night.

6. Madison-Area Getaway

Whether you’re in the Madison area for one day or a long weekend, there are plenty of activities to experience with your family. Some favorites include the Dane County Farmers’ Market in Capitol Square, shopping small businesses and boutiques along State Street, hiking around Devil’s Lake, touring the State Capitol, and checking out Madison’s food cuisine scene. 7. Up North Minocqua Escape

Watersport, boating, and fishing lovers: travel north to Minocqua, Wisconsin, where you’ll find more than 3,200 lakes, streams, and ponds between the Lakeland Area of Vilas and Oneida Counties. This location is a long-time summer vacation favorite for Wisconsinites. From all the water activities to the Sheer’s Lumberjack Show and impressive waterski performances, you’ll find the perfect blend of activity and serenity here.

8. Cozy SOO-Line Caboose Expedition
