Protect Yourself from Fraud this Holiday Season!

The holidays bring many wonderful things, but they also bring an increased risk of becoming the victim of online scams and fraud! Scammers are on the prowl to target stressed out shoppers and travelers who are may already be struggling to make ends meet.

Avoid becoming a target by following a few practical tips to keep your personal information and your money safe!

  • Beware of spoof calls that appear to be from Unison Credit Union! If you are feeling unsure if a phone call is truly from Unison, do NOT give out any of your information, hang up, and call us back at our main phone number: (920) 766-6000.
  • Learn how to turn your debit card on and off! Unison offers many online banking and mobile features, including the ability to temporarily turn your debit card off. If you suspect fraud on your card, go online and turn your card off right away. 
  • Never give out your online banking credentials! No one at Unison Credit Union or another legitimate institution will ever ask for your online banking login information. 
  • Be careful what links you click on! Exercise caution when clicking on links from Facebook or other social media sites, emails, or text messages as they can often be fraudulent! Instead, use a search engine to navigate directly to reputable websites, and avoid clicking on links for online loans.
  • Be smart when using your debit or credit card online! Only put your card information into a reputable website. 
  • Beware of online scams! Don’t fall for common online scams like secret shoppers, romance scams, or bitcoin scams.
