Deposits & Reporting

All types of deposits are allowed, and contributions must follow government guidelines. Members are responsible for IRS reporting. To assist with tax preparation, Form 1099-SA (summarizing distributions) is issued each January, and Form 5498-SA (summarizing contributions) is sent after April 15, received by May 31.


Withdrawals

Funds not used for qualified medical expenses may be subject to taxes and penalties. Please verify with a tax professional.


Contribution Limits
  • 2023: Maximum contributions are $3,850 for self-only coverage and $7,750 for family coverage. If you turn 55 before the close of the taxable year, you may contribute an additional $1,000.
  • 2024: Maximum contributions are $4,150 for self-only coverage and $8,300 for family coverage, with the same additional $1,000 allowed for those aged 55 or older.
  • Limits are subject to annual adjustments.
